up for sale is a piece of uk drag racing history. this car was raced originally over 25 years ago and has had a few different paint scemes and names. bernie smith originally built the car back in the eighty's. then it became flat attack 89/90. and now carry's my business name deano's vws.
i ve had this car for just under 7 years and its time for it to go to a new home. it will be turn key ready to race. here are the spec's:-
the front end has the original 3 1/2 narrowed beam
2 1/2 gallon spun ally tank
hurst line loc
holley fuel pump
simpson harness
simpson window net
13in wood superior ind steering wheel
stewart warner gauges
berg or empi ezr shifter
full msa legal roll cage
4 1/2 356 rims with moroso drag specials
6in ercos with 6in m&h slicks
also the rear wings have been changed to standard race weight style.

gearbox:-
super beetle 1+2 mainshaft
welded 3rd (1.48) and 4th (1.12)
4.37 r+p steel shift forks etc
heavy duty diff & side plate
high torque starter

engine:-
69x90.5 1776cc mag case
040 heads 40x37.5 ported by lee maynard to a d port.
mahle piston and barrels
scat i beam rods
fx87
48 epc carbs
1 5/8 stainlees exhaust

We caught these scottish guys trying to run off with the Flat4 racer, the pro turbo Notch had a nasty spin at the top end and nobody was hurt thankfully, and the Skinne brothers car............absolutely mental!

well done to the Russell Ritchie and the Gasser Garage crew for bringing out some more of their historic stash for the original owners to remenisce/drive it like they've borrowed it! good to see the Lee Leighton oval freshly renovated by The Paintbox with the Prosign touch on the signwriting. Whilst i've been away at EBI#3, my dad's beent to goodwood and taken some shots of the cars(and girls). EBI to follow tomorrow when i've got some energy back!Michael came with me as he wanted to see Peter Fonda on the Easy Rider chopper.He seemed more interested in the poachers literature than their other 'attractions'.The west coast truck is owned by Jesse James of West Coast Choppers and Monster Garage fame -His wife Sandra Bullock was also there.The Porsche 356 'Glockler Special' was built by Frankfurt VW dealer Walter Glockler in 1952 using a much lightened production chassis and 1488cc engine giving 86bhp on alcohol.Driven at Goodwood by Desire Wilson (in blue overalls on left) only female FI race winner.VW-Chevrolet Beetle - Mick Hill built this Formula 5000 based car to contest Super Saloon series in 1976.Uses the the front suspension and entire rear end of a Trojan T102 single seater.
